The вЂLine ToolвЂ™ lets you quickly edit a series of notes, based on the previous note length and current grid size, as a repetition along the drawn line. This allows you to work with odd polyrhythms or make вЂgroove-orientedвЂ™ adjustments consistently across a part quickly. ItвЂ™s a great way to audition changes to midi in a new context, or to grab bits of a part to use elsewhere.ДЄ feature thatвЂ™s rather unique that I like is that you can set the grid size in ticks. Render notes allows you to select specific notes and quickly render a new audio clip with just those notes rendered. When you make a selection of data thereвЂ™s a scaling box which is pretty neat. ThereвЂ™s a variety of functions for editing note lengths, inverting pitches, modifying notes (like the legato command which adjust all note lengths to come up to the next note).Д®diting CC, velocity, pitchbend etcвЂ¦ at its core level is clear and simple. The вЂSelect NotesвЂ™ menu in the bottom panel has a number of options to select notes with similar properties (pitch, mute-status, start time, velocity, etcвЂ¦)

You can select a group of notes and apply a groove to the selection in a single click. ThereвЂ™s a вЂChordsвЂ™ feature that lets you select a note and build a chord from it in a single click. The pencil-entered note is entered as the last note-length (which many people seem to prefer). You can shift-click a note to adjust the velocity. Horizontal movements adjust the note length, vertical movements adjust the velocity.

I know that it seems like thereвЂ™s a lot of bad things today, and there is, but the core experience is decent. Just make sure the edit pane (split) isn't selected as a target (Red square top right like plug-ins).ItвЂ™s MIDI Day! Hit E to toggle back to previous track height and for midi to be 'clips' instead of notes automatically!ДЄs for how to chose between a seperate MIDI editor window and the lower split pane - Target button in the split pane! Now to edit midi CLIPS even from micro track height, select the clip or range, hit 'E' and you have a quick MIDI edit view on the track itself which is fine for most basic midi editing, and keeps things tidier. Uncheck 'remove range selection after zoom in'ДЄnd change track view to 'waveform / notes'Д®nable 'zoome toggle follows edit selection'. Set vertical midi zoome/h zoom to 'selection' I actually prefer than than opening either the lower pane or seperate edit window for most midi tweaks. You can set PT 12+ up to enable you to select a midi clip (showing as CLIPS not notes) and pressing 'E' (with autofocus on) will enlarge that track to window height, zoom into the midi and change to 'notes' display.
